First Time PZS Exhibitor: Anatomic Air Press

We’ll be posting short interviews each day with the many exhibitors tabling at the 2016 Zine Symposium. Come meet all of these amazing zinesters, Saturday July 9th at Ambridge Event Center here in Portland, OR. Remember, there is only 1 day of tabling at this year’s Symposium. On Sunday July 10th, you’ll find us hosting a Skillshare day at the Independent Publishing Resource Center. Keep checking in with the site for additional exhibitor interviews, workshop and panel schedules, and fun events leading up to the Symposium.

Where do you live?
Atlanta, GA

If this is your first time tabling at Portland Zine Symposium, what excites you most about Portland and its zine community?

Yes, this is my first time! I’ve been making zines for over 10 years and have always wanted to table at PDX. I’m very excited to not only visit the city for the first time, but to also experience what the Portlandia hype is all about. 🙂
Share with us an image of you creating and/or your creative space. What is your zine-making process?

My zine making process really varies. My zines come in all shapes and sizes so the process is always different. I make zines about things I’m really interested in though so it always starts with that. Then I think about how I actually want to present the project and that is when the zine begins to take physical form. I have so many ideas that it’s hard to keep up so I can’t imagine I will ever stop making zines!
How do you keep inspired?
Everything inspires me! From love to sadness, from science to fiction, I get inspired by everything that is around me.

If you could give your 16th year old teen self a zine, which one would it be?

This is a hard one because there are so many awesome zines! But I would maybe say Zine Arcade. It showcases other zine makers so it is a great collection of styles and ideas. It is also very well made – I can’t stand sloppy zines!

What are you working on for this year’s Portland Zine Symposium? Share with us some photos of your new work!

I am working on a couple of new zines, but mostly tabling zines I’ve already made. Here is my website: anatomicair.com.
